What Is Flyer Distribution?
A flyer or flier, also called a circular, handbill or leaflet, is a form of paper advertisement intended for wide distribution and typically posted or distributed to residential households.
Flyers may be used by individuals, businesses, or organizations to:
Promote a good or service, such as a restaurant, plumbing service or kitchen makeover company. Persuade or send a social, religious, or political message, as in evangelism or political campaign activities on behalf of a political party or candidate.
Flyers have been used in armed conflict:
For example, airborne leaflet propaganda has been a tactic of psychological warfare, recruit members advertise an event such as a music concert, nightclub appearance, festival, or political really like postcards, pamphlets and small posters, flyers are a low-cost form of mass marketing or communication.
There are many different flyer formats. Some examples are: A4 (roughly letterhead size,) A5 (roughly half letterhead size), DL (comp slip size) A6 (postcard size). Printing flyers or leaflets is fairly inexpensive and their widespread use intensified with the spread of desktop publishing systems.
In recent years, the production of flyers through traditional printing services has been supplanted by Internet services; customers may send designs and receive final products by mail.
But flyers are not a new medium:
Prior to the War of American Independence, some colonists were outraged with the Stamp Act and gathered together in anti-stamp act congresses.
In these congresses they had to win support, and issued handbills and leaflets, pamphlets, along with other paraphernalia, to do so today, some jurisdictions have laws or ordinances banning or restricting leafleting or flyering, and owners of private property may put up signs saying no leaflets or no junk mail to request that the distributor refrains from posting through their letterbox.
Quality Flyer Distribution Pricing
Good leaflet distribution isn’t cheap and similarly, cheap leaflet distribution isn’t good so it is important that you make sure your supplier is charging a reasonable amount for the work you require.
Cheap leaflet distribution will mean that your supplier has the ability to pay a fair rate to his walkers. For a geographical area to be covered comprehensively walkers will need to be properly remunerated.
A successful leaflet distribution campaign will only be achieved if a fair rate is being paid for the work being carried out. Remember if a leaflet deliverer is being paid less than £40 per 1,000 households – at a sensible rate of walking they will be unable to achieve a level of minimum wage for an adult.
Use only properly qualified flyer distribution companies.
New start up distribution outfits will lack systems and expertise to properly manage their distributors. Also, they usually try to win business by being too cheap.
If they are not charging a proper price how can they afford to pay a fair price to their distributors and how can they create the proper management systems if they are not achieving a reasonable amount of profit?
Small start up companies will lack the resources to build a professional business and ‘stack it high and sell it cheap’ is not relevant in our service sector.
Membership of a relevant trade body is also important. For example, the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) has compliance requirements of its members and has a proper policy of best practice and environmental issues.
