Paul Ramsay, Business owner of Doctor Computer became a client of DOR-2-DOR in March this year.
Paul set up his Harpenden business in January 2004, having previously been Group Head of Telecommunications at General Electric in Watford. Paul’s seven years experience in the IT industry has empowered him to offer a PC support service to residential and small businesses customers alike, visiting clients in their homes or offices.
As a new business Paul first objective was to get his name out there. The aim was to create mass awareness on a local scale, informing potential customers of his existence and services, and how Paul could help with some common computer headaches. Paul wanted to put his message across in a light hearted and friendly manner. Interesting clipart was used, with an image of a woman battling with an unfriendly and unhelpful computer. This was a frustration that many people could relate to.
After an initial meeting, Dor-2-Dor put together some proofs, and a few minor alterations later it went out. Using the ‘Is your Computer Misbehaving’ theme Jeff and his team designed, printed and delivered 12,000 colourful leaflets to 12,000 Harpenden homes. The leaflets were distributed over a three-week period, and the process was simple.
Within a couple of hours of the leaflet distribution commencing, Paul started receiving calls. Weeks on, on average he is receiving one call a day in response to the advert. Paul has had more than 30 sales directly from the campaign, and at least 50 phone calls. The response far exceeded his expectations, and a steady level of repeat business has resulted since.
Paul Ramsay said:
“I am very pleased with the response, and I would use DOR-2-DOR again I have recommended them to other business owners I know. They can provide a complete service in-house, which is what really appealed. They are very local to me, which is particularly useful when you have a target market on your doorstep”
