Tollgate Bathrooms

Leaflet Distribution Case Study

Tollgate Bathrooms

Company Background

Tollagate is a Margam based bathroom and wall panelling specialist company. They are a family run business with more than 30 years experience. They specialise in waterproof PVC panelling and offer a free design service and employ two expert fitters.

Situation

Tollgate were looking to boost the sales of their bathrooms along with their expert fitting service. They had tried several methods of marketing their business, such as cards in supermarkets and adverts in cinemas but with little or no response.

Solution

Tollgate don’t normally run offers on their flyers as they believe their product and service is strong enough to stand alone. They’ve offered a free bottle of champagne in the past but no-one has taken them up on it, as customers are more interested in getting a fast and reliable service.

Dor-2-Dor suggestion is to emphasise the experience that the company offers through a humourous leaflets with a strong emphasis on family members. The design is a cheeky ‘naked’ (is she or isn’t she?) staff member in the bath and lots of references to family memebers by name in the text of the leaflet creating rapport and trust with the reader and giving the team at Tollgate as well as string statement about quality.

Results

Over the last five years, Tollgate has used Dor-2-Dor for a number of leaflet drops across the area including Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot and Bridgend.

Tollgate has actively chosen to participate in regular leaflet drops as their principle marketing activity as Dor-2-Dor offers them the flexibility to choose where and when they can aim their flyers in the most efficient and cost effective way. They can also vary the information that they include in them in order to highlight the features and benefits of their products and services. A bonus is the fact that they can advertise on both sides of a flyer, unlike other forms of advertising.

Their last leaflet drop started in March 2011, with 22,000 leaflets designed, printed and delivered in the Neath Port Talbot area. The programme involved three separate drops over a seven month period at a total cost of £1,300. Four jobs have already been confirmed through this initiative which more than cover the cost of the drop.

“We get great results combined with a pro-active and responsive service.”
